Retrospect
The past is often a blend of cherished memories, regret, success, and failure. Many people long to turn back time—to relive joyful moments or to correct mistakes and reconcile regrets. This collection embodies the concepts of "Going back in time" and "Broken and repaired." It continues my signature "Engineering Kinetic Jewellery" style, incorporating intricate mechanical transmission structures to create wearable, movable pieces.
Inspired by the mechanics of a pendulum clock, each piece features layered, fragmented clock faces that move at different speeds due to the internal cog system. This movement creates a visual interplay between broken and repaired surfaces. The escapement (ratchet) system further enhances this effect, locking the mechanism so the cogs only move in an anti-clockwise direction—evoking the visual metaphor of reversing time.
